I just got home last night from a 3 night cruise on the Disney Wonder. I went with my mother and my 14 year old daughter. I don't have the patience to do a trip report, though. I will say that it was an amazing trip. I learned a lot, as this was my first cruise. Actually it was my first time in Florida also. I managed to set off the metal detectors with my SR button. lol.:rotfl: Forgot it was in my pocket.
Not sure if we're allowed to name companies, but we used a major town car place that sponsors on the DIS boards. Very nice drivers and they were early, which I loved. :)
We stayed at All Star Music one night and visited downtown Disney.
The weather was um...HOT!! Omgosh, the heat and humidity was insane.
As for the cruise itself, "Wonder"ful. :sunshine2: Everyone was friendly and helpful. I couldn't think of anything negative to say on the feedback form they give at the end. We had great servers (Nyoman and Cathy). We had really neat towel animals every evening.
My 14 year old daughter had a great time in the teen club and left with one really nice new friend.
Things I learned:
Everyone wants a tip and will write it in themselves if they think they deserve it. Most of the time, I didn't care, but the guy who sold us water as we got off to visit Nassau didn't deserve the 15% tip he gave himself. I was in a hurry and only noticed that I was charged $16 for 3 bottles of water later when I viewed the bill. :(
I'm not sure if it's a standard charge in Nassau, but we ate at Senor Frog's and there was a $7.25 service charge! Uh...service for what? As soon as we got our food, the lady who took our order disappeared. The food was good, though.
3 days is NOT enough time. There are so many things to do and not enough time in the day to do it. We were constantly missing shows because time seemed to fly by.
The stairs are always quicker than the elevator.
Guest services likes it you put your gift cards on your account at the beginning of the cruise rather than waiting until the last day. Thanks to SR, I had $175 in gift cards.
Wet ship decks are very slippery. Watch your step.
Um...what else? Oh! Internet access is slow and expensive. 75 cents/minute if you don't buy a package.
Escargot is actually very good. However, if you actually look at it and think about what it is, you will likely be grossed out and won't try it. The key is to just eat it and not analyze what it is. I loved it.
Castaway Cay is beautiful!! I would have loved another day just to spend there.
If you're a picture person, the pictures they take are $20 (8x10) each. Buy a package if you know you're going to want photos.
I think that's about it. Here are the pictures I took and the only 3 I bought. I didn't take a million pictures because I kept forgetting my camera. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v715/Jusacuz/Disney%20Wonder%20Cruise%20-%20August%202007/
Now I want to take all of my kids and dh on a (longer) Disney cruise. Dh said if we start saving now, we can probably make it in late 2009. YAY!!
