I am getting my kids up for their 1st day of school. I am a little sad, and a little happy. I am thinking of all the things I can do without interuption. My plans for the next couple of months are to organize some closets, paint and organize a guest bedroom, declutter my kitchen, etc.

But it will be quiet in the house. I just might have to spend one day eating bon bons and taking a nice hot bath....:rotfl:

Enjoy that 1st day! Use any feelings of sadness to channel into all that organizing. I still have at home, but I have to get up so early with the other 2 that I can get a lot done before the baby wakes up - a few hous of the ouse looking the way I want it to (to bad no one else will see it!)

BTW - I love that family pic! It's FAB!

I can remember when all my kids were in school. I worked full time but it was nice to have everything straightened up in the morning and still like that when we all came home :rotfl:

Today is my youngest DD's first day of high school. After 9 years of going to school only 1 1/2 blocks from home, and 2 blocks from my work now she will take the EL 30 minutes away.

I am off today so I am going to ride it with her, her school is about 4 blocks from Lincoln Park Zoo so that is where I will be spending the day, then we will ride home together.

If I supply the bonbons, will you come to my house for the next couple months? :rotfl: My house need all of that done, except the bedroom. I am on working on the kitchen and diningroom. I want them red.

That first day is tough but I'm sure you will be doing the empty house happy dance soon enough :cooldance:

Personally, I can't wait until next year when both of my boys are in school fulltime and the 2 days a week that I work from home are kid free :rotfl:

You know, it is too bad that some of us do not live a little closer together, that we could help each other out in the organization area. My best friend and I use to get together once a month or so and either paint a room, move furniture around, etc. One month would be at my house, the next at hers. But she moved away this past January :( . We still talk a lot, but don't get to get together like that anymore....So, I am on my own.

My mom, couldn't live without her, helps me paint, do yard work (not cut grass, but nearly everything else), etc. She is 71 and a dynamo. But, she isn't into housework (mine, her house is immaculate). So, I guess I will have to get up and go to work. I like Janet's idea of 15 minutes here, 15 minutes there. Before hi speed internet, when I had a 19.2 modem, then a 56? modem (how did I manage?:computer: ), I cleaned house as I moved from page to page. It was SLOW, but I managed to make $3500 in about 18 months to pay for WDW for 4. I did have dsl the last 6 months. That was in the early days of making money on the internet.

I think this first day of school is awesome! It's almost 10 am and I'm still in my pjs. DS left for school at 7 and I've been on SR ever since. I got my survey done and did about 15 offers and now I'm playing in the forums. I figure the house work can wait until tomorrow- this day is for me!!! :cooldance:

Me, too. Off and on. But, today is my day off so I need to get something done. However, SR is more fun.:sunshine:

I remember Tricias first day of kindergarten, and every day thereafer. Was only half a day. We (me a couple neighbors and her younger sister) would walk her up the hill to school, then come back home. Her younger sister would stand at the door all afternoon waiting for Tricia to get home from school. She would just stand there, and when she would see her coming up the sidewalk she would jump up and down and clap and call her name. Gee, how cute they were back then, and gee, how much they liked eachother then. :rotfl:

My dd is 10 and had her first day of school today after being homeschooled for the past 4 years. She was nervous and excited both, but she really enjoyed it. I didn't have 1/2 as hard a time dropping her off as I thought, probably because she was looking forward to it, and also because I was at work all day. I still wish my job hadn't become full time, making the schooling change necessary, but I know everything happens for a reason. I do not like the thought of working again full time though. I keep thinking...when am I possibly going to get everything done??

My 2YO looks for his big sis, Ryleigh, (he apparently doesn't care about his other bib sis, Ryan!) calling for her and looking out the window for her. But once she's home he jumps on her and starts wrestling! YIKES! And Ryleigh's i NO MOOD to be messed with right after walking home with us from the bus stop - no naps and no afternoon snacks in kindergarten!

Leslie - good to hear Emily's 1st day went well!

Today was MY first day of school...teacher day at school. I cried all the way to work because I was leaving DS11months. When I went back to work after my maternity leave he was a little blob. After 2 months of 24/7 mommy/kiddie time, I had a hard time. He was ok - and so was DD6. They were both with Grandma. I am lucky...no day care!

DD6 starts 1st grade tomorrow. BIG GIRL SCHOOL! Full day...with lunch! She is so excited!!

How fast they grow...

2nd day with the kids gone. I am actually enjoying having some alone time. I am getting caught up on some things. My bed has actually been made 2 days in a row! (Usually my DD would watch a movie or something in my room - so I did not make it) I have been in the habit (well, habit meaning 2 days straight) of cleaning the bathroom as soon as the kids are dropped off at school. So if someone drops by, the bathroom is at least presentable. I made 2 dinners yesterday. One to eat and the other for another day. I think I am liking this. Next week I will start the organizational stuff. I am just taking it easy this week.

I want to enjoy this year, because next year I may be looking for something to do outside the home - hopefully at school. We will see!
