Anyone interested in doing this? I want to, but as I said last night have a hard time sticking to a routine. I would love to be able to do the half marathon Jan 2009 and it would be plenty of time to train and hopefully feel comfortable with that distance by then. We could have an SR team, t shirts and everything. Anyone interested? Don't think that I can already run even close to 13 miles - I can't - but how awesome would it feel to be able to do it??? Who knows, the next year we could do a Sunshine Marathon. If you need a little more motivation, if you run the half marathon you get a Donald Duck medal, if you do the marathon you get a Mickey medal and if you are "goofy" enough to do both, you guessed it, you get a Goofy medal and a Mickey and Donald. :)

Give me more info. You run at Disney at the end of January?

They have it every year. On the Saturday (somewhere around Jan 9 or so) is the half marathon and Sunday is the marathon. I am not sure of the details 100%, but I am sure you can google it and get lots of info. Two of my co workers did it last year and said it was a blast. The wife did the half, the husband did the whole. They made a Disney trip out of it and oh yeah, ran in b/t. :) Not sure of the cost, but I am sure there is a registration fee. I also think it fills up quickly so would already be full of '08, not to mention I couldn't get my butt going to run that far in just a couple of months. :) But for '09, I think I could do it and I know I could if we had a team and we were all doing it, you know? One thing my friend told me was she found it to be not so hard (let's face it, it is still 13 miles!) doing it at Disney b/c there are thousands of people there cheering you on and you run through all the parks so you are getting a grand tour in fast forward. She said there were so many things to look at that you didn't really pay that much attention to the run. And all the characters are there rooting you on as well. I think it sounds like fun. Flat land, do-able, you know?

I just noticed there is a Minnie Marathon too in May! This one is a 15K which sounds like about 9 miles or so. That one would be fun too!

I'm hoping to do the marathon in 2009. An SR team would be very cool. The WISH board on DIS is a good place for those wanting more info and inspiration. :sunshine2: I really wanted to do the Tower of Terror 13k (?), but couldn't justify going to Disney just for a race. :)

That would be great if we could have a SR marathon team and a half marathon team. Or whatever we could get enough people to do.

I don't think we are going to make it to Disney next year. :( We are planning a trip to Sesame Place while my children are still into Sesame Street so Disney will probably be 2009 for us. Otherwise I would love to.

I'm late on this, but would love to do the half marathon at some point ...
and if I heard correctly this is the last year for the Minnie - on that theme - I guess they're keeping the 15k women's race, but will change it to a Princess theme. Don't know if it's true or not though ...

I'll train with you! I'm up to running a mile right now at 5mph. I'm hoping to shave my time down and up my mileage.
