View Full Version : SR Cruise - What excursions are you doing?

I started looking at the available excursions for the SR cruise and I am trying to decide what I might want to do.

I think at Castaway Cay I will probably just rent the snorkeling equipment and do that most of the day. I love snorkeling and laying on the beach and heading into the water whenever I feel like it sounds like a great day to me. I have been to the Bahamas (in particular Nassau/Paradise Island) before so I'm really not sure what I want to do there - if anything. I might do the Dolphin Encounter. My MIL and SIL really enjoyed that when we were there. Or I might just head over to Atlantis and do some sightseeing (I actually mean gambling :rotfl: )

So has anyone else though about what excursions they might do while on the SR cruise?

I looked at the excursions and there are so many possibilities. I like the idea of renting a bike but also like the idea of just reading on the beach.
The city tour in Nassau looks good to me since I've never been there, but I don't know how easy that stuff might be to do on your own.

I definitely want to snorkel at Castaway Cay (and also do a little lounging on the adults only beach with a nice drink!). I don't know how much of Nassau I want to do either. If they have good stuff on the ship that day (like the martini or wine tasting), I may not do much in Nassau. If I do anything, it will probably be gamble. LOL!

To be honest, I will probably spend Nassau day on the ship. Maybe in the rainforest room? Or laying in the sun (with SPF 30 of course!). I want to catch up on my reading, and it's wonderful to have lunch in Triton's on port days since no one is there!

Castaway Cay day will probably be more laying on the beach, or maybe renting snorkling equipment. It will depend on the water temp -- it was freezing when we went in January so hopefully it will be warmer in October. :sunshine2:

Of course if any groups of gals are planning something fun together, count me in!!

I'm thinking snorkel and maybe parasailing on CC. But the stingray thing might be cool too. Hmm... good thing I have a while to pick! Other than that -- adults only beach with drink in hand! :D

Nassau -- The Doplhin Encounter sounds neat, but it's kind of pricey. Not really sure on this one yet!

I heard that the parasailing on CC has not been running. Some kind of problem with the operator. It may be back when we go but it may not.

My excursions will take me from the front bar on the ship to the rear bar on the ship and finally to the pool bar where I will be comfortably seated with an umbrella drink in my hand. Another excursion will find me in the spa area. And last but not least, the final excursions will be the wine, beer and martini tastings. aaahhhh, the good life.

Too funny. Do you have your spa service all picked out already?

No, I'm thinking of doing that little room with DH with the mud and oils, sounds pretty interesting.

ya, well, with the daughter, sil, and grandkids right next door, we may need spa time. LOL

EWWWW!! (And it's not like we plan on spending a lot of time in the room)

Just to get you back Cindy.....

YES. You can do whatever you want in that room. It is VERY private.

Reeeeeally.....

Is this the Spa villa thing we are talking about? The one that is like, $500 bucks?

I think I'll have to do a LOT more clicking if that one is to happen!

Well, hey now!

that sounds a lot better!
I just realized that the villa thing was only on the Magic, anyway.

hmmmm.....sounds like a nice thing to do on the Nassau day!

Does anyone else have a sig other that doesn't like to snorkel?? I wish to god my hubby liked the ocean, but he has a wicked fear of sharks coming up and biting him on the butt. :)

The City and garden tour sounds nice as well.

Most likely, we will stay on board during the Nassau port. Being on our first trip without the kids will probably see us sleeping until noon. Oh the heaven!!!

we did the stingray interaction on last cruise, a bit tame for us...it'd be perfect for familes with younger kids.

also liked the Ardrasta Gardens tour, i got to march with the 'world famous marching flamingos'

I don't think DH & I will do any. We'll probably do a walking tour by ourselves of Nassau. We're not really into the whole organized activities thing or spa treatments. :)

If anyone is going with teens, my daughter really enjoyed the Wild Side excursion on Castaway Cay when she went this past August. :sunshine2:
