I have decided to do a very very late Trip report. We went in January and I never did one but I have been waiting for some of you to finish and new ones to start so I thought I would just do this myself! I am not creative as you can tell by my title but it well help tide us over until some one else gets a trip report going.

My trip report starts sometime in the spring of 2006. I convinced my husband to go to Disneyland. After looking at airfare and choices of hotels I realized for us it would be just as cheap to go the WORLD! When you can fly to Orlando for the same price as LA and stay on property at WDW far cheaper then at DL why wouldn't you. (I had been to WDW before but my husband, and kids had not.)

I then found the DIS! What a change in my life that made. (It brought me here to SR) Anyway I started to look at all the resorts that Disney World has to offer. So many choices. I really wanted to stay in a deluxe but we just did not have that kind of money. I really wanted to stay at the Polynesian. But that would not happen. I then saw something about renting points to stay at a DVC! I compared prices and it was WAY cheaper then staying at most hotels. So I started looking in September for someone on the DISboards to rent me points at BCV! I had heard such good reviews about the swimming pool. I found a lady who was renting her points for the very first time. She didn’t know anything. I actually walked here through some things like that I could get, like the DDP and ME. I now know since she was new to the DIS I should have been paranoid of dealing with her but I was also new and we agreed. So we were set for May 2007, 7 nights in a studio! Then a month later I found out I was pregnant. I freaked. There was only one month I could travel then, with my husbands work and the baby, it was January and that was fast approaching. So I called her and she could only find SSR with the dates I needed. Because January was cheaper then May I was able to change our studio stay to 4 nights in a studio and 3 nights in a 1 bedroom!! YIPPEE. So changes were made. I was glum because I wasn’t sure what to think of SSR! I started to research and thought it might just be okay. Then I lost the baby. You have to understand my husband had had a vasectomy before I got pregnant so I was a little shocked to find out I was pregnant. Ben had never gone back to make sure, and it was almost a year after the procedure so we thought we were safe. I went through lots of emotions. Finally when I was starting to become okay with the idea we lost the baby. I actually lost the baby at 7 weeks but did not find out until I was 11 weeks. BUT I digress. Sorry, I will probably do that a lot!
We just decided to stick with January 2007 at Saratoga Springs Resort anyway. I did not want to bug the nice lady we rented from again and we had started to get excited about going in January when crowds were supposedly lower.
We now had just about 4 months to go. When we were going in May I had figured out which day to call to make ADR’s. Now I was running behind! I had to figure out which days I wanted to do what!! What fun. Anyway I am off to find all my paperwork to remind myself. I will be back later.

We would be going January 10-17. The day to leave was fast approaching. We had been wavering on driving to the airport in the morning, which meant leaving our house at 3:30 to arrive in time for our 7:00 flight, or staying in a hotel overnight and leaving our car in their parking lot. The day arrived and a LARGE storm was heading our way. We decide to head up to PDX the night before and not worry about driving in it in the morning. I think this was a really great idea. It got us in that vacation mood sooner. So the next morning we were off to the airport! We made it through, though with two kids, strollers, bags, etc it was quite the job. :) Neither of my children had ever flown so they were excited! I will be short on this part and just say flying with my 2 year old son was not fun. I had done and brought everything I had read would help from the DIS BUT he just was not good.

It was a very very long trip from Oregon to Florida! We got into MCO at 4:30 pm and started to look for ME! I had no idea where to go. Nothing had prepared me. This is where Ben and I started to have a "difference in opinion" on everything in the airport. By the time we had found ME we were grumpy. :) But as we walked onto the buses for Magical Express that just seemed to melt away. We waited like 1 minute in the line and maybe 7 minutes on the bus. It went so smoothly! I love ME. So we got to SSR and I am starting to get that anxious butterfly in my tummy. What if the lady we rented points from has bambuzzled us! I had called SSR 3 days before and they had me in the computer but I knew that could change. I went in and checked us in and it was easy as pie. We would be staying at The Paddocks for our studio stay and then on to Congress Park for the 1 bedroom. I had no idea where I wanted to stay so these sounded great. Off we went to unload and get ready for dinner at OHANA! We had reservations at 7:55. This was good for us as we were still on Pacific time so it was like 4:55 for our bodies. We loved OHANA! It was our favorite restaurant. We got to watch Wishes on our first night from the windows and ate such amazing food. I loved the chicken honey drumsticks and my husband loved the meats! So yummy. It was fun to see the Polynesian after so wanting to stay here. The kids were't having fun as they were tired but they did not ruin it for us. :) I really did enjoy the atmosphere there. Then it was back to our studio. We were all exhausted from our long day of flying. We would head out to Magic Kingdom in the morning! O, I had Staples deliver 2 boxes of bottled water for us. I had called the front desk after we got into our room and they said they would deliver it. No water arrived that night.

We decided to not do alarms this week. It was already hard for our bodies to adjust to the time change and so we figured we would wake when we did. Our kids usually get up at about 6 so I wasn’t too worried. On our way out to MK there was a hotel staff bringing our water up. We grabbed a couple bottles out and let her deliver the rest. I loved having that water all week. We never had to wait very long for a bus to come along. And we were blessed all week with beautiful weather. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the crowds but it didn’t seem like low season. We had to wait about 45 minutes to an hour for every ride! It took us about half of the day before we realized what Fast Passes were.

We headed into MK and just walked around. It was almost overwhelming to us. I had wanted to do Belle's story time but we had just missed that so we headed in and saw that the show at the castle was about to begin! So we got our places and wow what a show.

My daughter was so enthralled. When the villains came out she hid behind here daddy. http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc235/wilsonfamily4/wdw2007025.jpg
It was all so real to her. When this was over we wondered around some more and found Goofy's Barnstormer. The kids loved it. My son, who was 2, LOVED THIS. It was a great first ride. We then did Minnie’s house and then off to the meet and greet.
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc235/wilsonfamily4/wdw2007036.jpg
We did the train and then headed to lunch at Cosmic rays. That is a good place to eat. YUMMY. We also decided we really like the little black plastic mickey head plates the kids meals come on. So we cleaned them out and took them with us. (We added two more by the end of our trip.) Off we went to ride Dumbo. As we stood in line they started to hand out the Year of a Million Dreams lanyards! It was so cool to know we had got a part of this Disney history! After Disney we did Peter Pan, IASW, and some I just cannot remember anymore. It was a good day but we were tired. We headed back to the hotel thinking we would put the kids down for a nap. We got to the room and realized they didn’t really need them. So we went to the pool. The pool at SSR is very nice. Wit the zero entrance even our scaredy cat 2 year old could play. He hung out at the first 10 inches of water almost all week. And he loved the Donald Duck play area. We were supposed to eat at Concourse Steakhouse but we just wanted to stay put so we ate at the Turfs Club at SSR. We are so glad we did. It is a very yummy restaurant. The kids all race wooden horses around and they got little plastic horses that ended up being the kids’ favorite souvie from WDW! After dinner we took the boat from the launch there at the restaurant to DTD! We walked around there and then headed back. It was a great first day!

Our second full day at Disney we went to Animal Kingdom. I was very much looking forward to this. We go to the zoo about once a month and love the Wildlife Safari in Oregon. So I knew this was going to be good. We got there and had some bakery items from a cart for breakfast.. Boy were these things yummy. So good. We then headed off. We went to Dinoland or whatever that is called and did some rides and the Boneyard Playground.
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc235/wilsonfamily4/wdw2007064.jpg
Then we headed to Nemo the musical. What a fun time this was. I am so glad we went to this. After this we went to ride EE and found it was closed for problems! We tried back again later but it was still closed for the day. I was bummed. O, well. We measured my daughter and she wasn’t tall enough anyway so this saved us a melt down. She had seen this ride on the Disney DVD and had so wanted to see the Yeti. :) We wondered around again and ended up doing Kilimanjaro Safari by Fast Pass. We practically walked on because of those little pieces of paper! We felt so smug walking by THE VERY LONG LINE. We knew we were those people the day before. :)
This is a fun ride. The kids really enjoyed this one. We had lunch at Flame Tree. The lines here were so long. The food here was just okay.
We had been looking for a wind chime the whole day and had seen one we liked but hadn’t boughten. The kids were in need of some down time so we headed out of the park with no wind chime! We went back to the hotel and went swimming again. This was a nice relaxing time fo me. My husband would take the kids in and I would sit in the chairs by the zero entrance with a book and just relax. Very nice.
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc235/wilsonfamily4/wdw2007110.jpg
Had dinner there at Artists Palette. It is a very fun atmosphere there. They have small easles on each table for the kids, well and adults too, to draw on. It keeps them very entertained. We then headed into DTD for shopping. I bought some stuff at the scrapbook store and we loved the candy store. It was a nice day.

So glad you are doing a report! It is so fun to "take" your trip all over again! I too, would love to stay at the Poly, but we are a bit of the frugaler type (or should I say I am!). I rather splurge on other things than a hotel. We did visit the Poly over our vacay and I keep saying.....someday.....

I am sorry for the loss of your baby. That makes for a sad few months....

Waiting for your next report!!!!

I love hearing about first trips! Can't wait to read more. I bring home the mickey plastic plates too :) We use them when we do our Disney movie nights (we watch an oldie but goodie from when she was little). I think they are great for dipping things and it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy!!

I'm sorry for your loss. I've been through that also, and all I can say is hugs to you and your family.

Today was the day I was most looking towards for my kids. We were heading to Epcot for the morning and having a late breakfast with the princesses! When we got there we had time to go ride Nemo and listen to Turtle Talk. This was a hit. I am not sure if it was me or my kids that enjoyed this most. I was a little anxious though because we were pushing the time limit. I wish I wasn’t the type to worry about being on time. It just takes the fun out of things when you are always worrying about the next thing on the schedule. We then had to run to get to our ADR. When we were admitted we saw it was Belle we would get pictures with. My son was not sure about her and Alicia was in heaven.
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc235/wilsonfamily4/wdw2007112.jpg
After this we were seated and had our breakfast buffet. The food was good. Not the best but it was all about the princesses. It was fun to watch my kids stare at these ladies.

After this we walked through the world. I cannot remember at all what we did but I remember having snow cones. :) We also got lots of pictures of the kids with some characters.

We were only going to spend half a day here and then head back to our rooms and then half a day at MGM. So we left and went and got ready for MGM and our ADR at 50's Prime Time.

I have to add that for months leading up to our trip there were two things I knew I was going to get at WDW! A churro, Sorry LuvMyBoys, and a mickey mouse icecream bar. I NEEDED those two things. We looked everywhere. When we were at DTD I found a churro, but they did not take the DDP card and I did not have cash at the time! So I kept looking. One night I saw a mickey icecream bar and while I waited for my huusband to come back to watch the kids it closed down. I never did get either one. That was just a side note! So when we go back In January 2009 I WILL GET ONE OF EACH!

So off we went to MGM. Again I must say that we were overwhelmed at every park we went into. We would just walk in and wander for a bit trying to get some bearings. We had an ADR at 6:25 for 50's Prime Time. We went and asked if we could push this back a bit and they said no they were actually not letting in anyone in that did not have ADR’s that night. It was a very busy Saturday night. So we went and watched Beauty and the Beast and waited to get into the Muppets before I realized we would be late for our ADR if we stayed the whole time. What a waste of time. We headed to dinner and just waited outside until we could get in. We watched the dinosaur there blow smoke out his nose. That was our entertainment. :)The food was good here but we just didn’t “feel” it like some people do. My husband doesn’t want to go back there again. After dinner we headed out for the night. We really liked to end each night swimming so we always left a little earlier then most people. But to my kids the swimming pool was just as good as any park. :) I was a little let down as this was our only day scheduled at MGM and we had only done one thing!

We were supposed to go to Animal Kingdom in the morning but decided we really didn’t care if we went back and we wanted to do some more stuff at MGM. So we headed there in the morning and knew we would head to Epcot in the evening for our dinner at Le Cellier. When we got to MGM we went and saw Light, Motor, Action Extreme Stunt Show. This was a good show. My husband really enjoyed this. The only downer was when the ask for a volunteer from the audience my daughter was SURE they would pick her. We tried to tell her that they wanted someone older but to her this place was magical and it was a place made for HER. So when they picked a 12 year old boy she cried, and cried. But it was fun to see how they do some of what they do in Hollywood. We then saw Indiana Jones and ran into some CARS! It was about time to head out. We decided to eat lunch there and then Alicia saw THE TOWER OF TERROR! http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc235/wilsonfamily4/toweroftower.jpg
She also saw she was tall enough and that was the end of any discussions. She was tired of not being tall enough and this was the ride for her. So Ben took her while Ethan and I went to do some shopping. (This was the first and ony time I bought something and had it shipped back to our resorts gift store. So nice and easy. I was afraid of breaking it so I liked this option. I also thought I had a lot more shopping time left and did not want to carry around a lot of bags.)We thought it would take them about 45 minutes but I went into one store bought one Christmas ornament and came out and there they were. I asked her if she had a good time and she said “NO.” I asked her if she was glad she went and she said “YES.” But it is the one thing she still talks about to this day. It was scary and she will never do it again! EVER. She was very, very proud of herself though.

O, this was the day we switched to our 1 bedroom. So we had our bags picked up before we left and I rechecked in. They gave me a card to call them to see when our room would be ready. When we finished the ToT we called and it was ready for us so we headed back to get our luggage delivered and see the new place! AND I had forgotten to mention that the night before Ethan had thrown up all over his favorite blanket. We so needed to get into the 1 bedroom to use the washer and dryer! That one night has changed my view on studios. We will always stay in a 1 bedroom.

With kids my kids' age they need a washer and dryer available at all hours. We tried to wash the blanket in the sink but it needed a good wash. It was after midnight so we didn't use a real washer and dryer until the 1 bedroom. SO nice to have that!

I have been at a field trip all morning so I will get to the rest later. :)

So we get back to our 1 bedroom and we are just amazed at a 1 bedroom at SSR. So nice. Amazingly nice. We had planned, back in the planning days, that every day after lunch we would head back to take naps. We never did. This is the only day any of us took naps, and it was just 2 of us who took the coveted nap. And lets just say neither I nor my daughter took that blessed nap. The boys were in the bedroom and Alicia watched some Disney tv while I ran and used some snack credits on fresh strawberries with whipped cream. :) That was a nice treat for us girls. I wish I could show you the view from our room. But for a reason you will hear later, I cannot. We were at the last building in our row. So we had a view of the water fountain thingy and could see the little river between DTD and SR. It was a gorgeous view. We also saw a bunny one day out our window! After staying here we love SSR. My husband does not want to go anywhere else. We have seriously talked about buying DVC and had planned to in April. Now we are just not sure. So for our next trip I will probably rent points again. But definitely for SSR. It is so relaxing there. There are swans in the ponds, bunnies, lizards, birds. It is so peaceful.
I will find some pictures from other people and post them here.

After “our” rest we headed to Le Cellier for dinner. We did not leave much time before for rides. We tried to do one, now the name escapes me, but the wait was over 2 hours long!!!!!!! INSANE. So we pretty much just walked around taking it in and headed to dinner. We enjoyed Le Cellier. Well almost all of us. My son decided he was not happy to be here and was not very good through the dinner. We sat next to a single lady who was so gracious. She talked to the kids and was so nice about our loud son. She was there on a conference for vets and my daughter wants to be one so they talked a lot. Anyway, the food was very yummy here. I had the cheese soup and loved it. I cannot remember anything else except our waiter was excellent and I got the two kinds of creme brulee and I liked the vanilla better then the maple. I so wish I had done this TR in January when it was fresh. I just cannot remember things 9 months later.

We did not stay for illuminations. The kids really wanted to go . . . you guessed it SWIM. This was one of the few times I just wished I could get my way and see some night time show!!! O, well. I kept telling myself this was for them and I wold have plenty more years.
Alicia had brought her own money and bought some mickey head glow thingy.

We headed out of Epcot and back to SSR for more swimming. :) I grow water babies.

We woke up and kind of took our time this Monday morning. I had come to realize that my husband was on vacation. Really his first one ever and it just happened to have Disney nearby. As much as I wanted to "do" I was enjoying his very leisurely pace and it was much better for the kids. BUT I do know there will come a year when the kids are a bit older and we know the parks good enough that we will do the parks the way I want to do them. Anyway, today was a "vacation" morning. We had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. I had initially set this up so we could go to MK and then take the monorail to breakfast. But this was way before I realized my husband was on "vacation." So we set around our room until our ADR of 10:30. Then we went to breakfast. :) I love this place. The Grand Floridian is gorgeous. Everyone should at least walk through this hotel. I don’t think I would like to stay there but it was fun to see. Breakfast was fun. Both Ben and I really really enjoyed the food here. Alicia was not in the mood to be with any characters but my son had gotten a monorail in Epcot the night before so he kept showing the characters. I took so many lovely pictures of this interaction. After breakfast we took the monorail over to MK. We did some rides we did not get to last time and the train. My son is a train lover so anywhere that had a train it got rode. :) Even DTD. I had Mickey’s Philharmagic down as a must see and Ben kept snickering at this one. We went in and when we came out in became our familys favorite. We all loved the smells, feels sounds of this one. Ethan was a touch young and couldn’t keep the glasses on very good. But we loved this!
Ths was probably our most productive ride day. We got a lot in. We even had those blue icee drinks. Yummy.
We left about 3:00. Headed back to SSR on our bus and got ready for our dinner ADR at Coral Reef at 5!

On the bus Ethan had been playing with my camera. It hangs on my belt loop. So I moved it to the other side of my body. I got off the bus and realized immediately that I had left it on the bus. I tried to stop the bus but it was gone. I ran up to our room and called and talked to everyone and their dog but they could not contact the driver and they did not have my camera. :( Over the next couple days and then into weeks I called a lot but they never did find it. I was beyond ticked. This had pictures of the kids at Park Fare, MK, I had taken pictures of the hotel and scenery around. I just wish that somehow I could get the memory card back. I think from now on I will take a picture of our address on the card. Just in case a thief leaves this part they know who to send it to. I still get sick thinking about it. So from this point on there are no pictures. Yes, I too am crying!

Coral Reef was fun. It was probably the one I had been most excited about. We had to wait forever to be seated and so we decided not to ask for a better table. We ended up being too far from the tank for our two kids. Neither of them could see the fish! The food was okay but not great and the waiters were probably the worst we had all week. But in all honestly we loved the other waiters so they had a lot to live up to. To top it off later Ethan had some reaction to the fish we ate. :( He had a similar reaction the last time we had fish but we have fish so rarely I had forgotten. Anyway, I digress, AGAIN.

I have to add that losing my camera really irked me because my husband had told me all week I would lose my camera. He did not like the belt loop carrier. I kept telling him I took this camera to China for 2 weeks and never lost it, never had it stolen. There is something to having your husband be right about something that upset me already. :)

Thank you so much for this instalment, I am very sorry about your camera, I understand why no more pics now! The good news is the memories will always be with you and your family!

I do enjoy the coral reef but have noticed that it takes a long time to get seated and have had some not so good waiters before!

I hope ethan got better quickly after the fish...

So sorry about your camera. I would have been devastated! Mostly it is sad that someone did not turn it it.

When we were leaving Potc one late evening, we found a memory card laying on the ground. We turned it in IMMEDIATELY. I kept thinking how upset someone would be if they lost it. I do not know if anyone ever picked it up, but it gave me great pleasure knowing that someone MIGHT have picked it up and was very grateful that someone turned it in for them.

SSR does look VERY nice! We thought about renting points sometime. Of course when I win the DVC club membership through YOAMD, I won't have to worry about it! HEHEHEHEHE

I know! I have a hard time saying I lost it because I know someone also stole it.

We really like DVC. We are planning on taking Ben's parents in 2009. We will rent a 2 bedroom then! We hope to do 4 nights at SSR and 2-3 at BCV. There is some trust to renting points though! I wish we could just buy to take that worry from me. My husband wants to save our money to buy a rental property. So we are unsure what we are doing. He doesn't think we will visit WDW enough. He doesn't get my Disney bug, yet. If I won that DVC for a year it would sure solve that problem.

That sure would be nice to win the DVC membership! It would be awesome if someone here on SR could win it! Of course I would be deliriously happy if I won, but I would also be VERY happy for someone here to win.

I guess I should start sending in my postcards again. I haven't sent any in since our trip in July. But I did win 2 lanyards with 2 pins each and 2 Mickey YOAMD ears! THAT was neat!

I know this is way after the fact, but did you check w/ each individual lost & found? I lost my camera, and it turned up at Animal Kingdom, where I'd never even visited.

I know how much that sticks. Well I should say, my mom knows. Back then they were just starting out...police man and sahm. So money was tight, and they would never get around to developing film until a bonus came around or somthing. Film accidentally got tossed out, so I only have 2 baby pictures until I am 3 years old!!

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to try calling each location, even after this time, even DTD.

Thanks for writing your TR, it's so fun to see how we each experience the same places differently!

So still on the churro search, huh?? DS11 sends his condolences and support :rotfl:

What is it with kids and swimming??? It's so wonderful to pay thousands of dollars for a vacation package and then all the kids want to do is swim!!?? I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who has kids that do that!

And it seems that I'm not the only one who's husband goes on "vacation-mode" while I continue to perform the duties of Mom. You know, the planning, the scheduling, the laundry, the packing, taking care of the kids, etc. That's exactly why I started going on girls only vacations with my mom and sisters. :)

It really makes me wonder though, what would a Dad's only vacation to WDW be like? Would they even make ADR's?? Would they visit the parks?? Would they have any schedule at all????

They would all end up at the boardwalk visiting ESPN-eating hot wings and watching some kind of game! :rotfl:

Yeah I called every single lost and found WDW could own. :) Some of that was from me and some of it was them giving me a run around and telling me to call somewhere else. I really thought I would get it back. Even weeks after when they told me I should juts stop calling I thought they would find it and send it to me. O, well.

Golly, if my husband was to go to WDW without me. . . hmm They would wander around from restaurant to restaurant till they found somewhere to get in. He would love ESPN but He would never know there was one or where to find it because that would take some homework. The kids would wear mismatched, dirty clothes. They would swim a lot though. :) It just makes me laugh tothink of it. They would also drink a lot of pop.

My DH and boys would be at ESPN and the Wide World of Sports EVERY day. They would get up LATE. They probably would not ride any of the Fantasyland rides (however they DO enjoy them, but it would not be cool to go without a girl riding with you). They would do Mission Space, Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Splash, and Test Track. And they would swim ALL the time. They would eat WHEREVER and WHATEVER they wanted regardless of price because....well..."this is vacation". They would never watch a parade or wishes. I would think it would be such a waste of a vacation, but it would probably be WONDERFUL in their eyes!
