Well I have officially restarted WW again. It has been much easier than I anticipated but then again I have been structured with working 9-5 this week and avoiding snacking. I did go a bit overboard today at dinner (steak and baked potato - home cooked at least) but figured I could work it out through exercise and jumping back on the bandwagon the rest of the week.

Hit up Kroger and Wholefoods for healthy foods and snacks. So far so good. :sunshine:

If anyone is near Kroger - chicken is BOGO including the tyson organic stuff and pork chops are on sale. Both tend to do well with WW.

I'm slowly moving us back this week now that I am almost over my cold and finally have groceries again. We'll be back on it full swing as of Sunday. :)

We've been doing fresh salad each night with our dinner - whole wheat pasta with meat sauce, grilled chicken tomorrow with asparagus and also loading up on fresh fruit and yogurt while at work to keep us from snacking. It is totally making a difference in how full I feel.

Oh and another kroger tip - grapes are on sale for $1 a pound. Normally around here they are $4-5 a pound (eek!)

Congrats on officially being back on track. I have the food here at home, but the ambition to workout is still not here. I'm hoping that after this week is over I'll be able to get into it again. I realized today that I have 6 weeks exactly before my trip, so I really need to start that e-machine again! I did order the Firm, so hopefully that will arrive soon too!

Good luck ladies!!

Welcome back Jen. The exercise wasn't so bad to get back into. It just took Mike putting his foot down and making me go to the gym with him.

Can I just say I don't know how people do low carb diets. I cannot get protein to stick with me. So after that huge dinner tonight (talking 10oz steak here and light carbs from the potato) within 20 minutes of the stair climber all food and energy was gone and I was starving again and felt like I was going to die. I definetly need my carbs if I want to work out. Same thing with eggs for breakfast. If I have them and then go workout on Saturday morning I am about to passout 30 minutes into my workout. I wish I could go without carbs. I'd have a much flatter tummy.

I really want to restart WW too, but I am having major problems finding the motivation. So I'm going to follow your thread and see if I can't steal some from you :sunshine2:

Good luck!!

I completely understand where you are coming from. I was that way in January. Wanting to try but not motivated enough. Motivation will come so don't force yourself right now.

You know what really got me -> Missymouse's diet and exercise check in thread. Looking back and seeing how much people have lost since Jan when I tried to start and seeing where I could be right now got my butt into gear.

I find having other people around me doing WW is a HUGE help. Like sharing snack ideas!! Right now my favorite is All Bran crackers and a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese. Three points for a whole plate of cheese crackers that are really filling!

Welcome! :sunshine:

The more the merrier around here. We'd love to have you jump in and update us with your progress, fun snacks, healthy recipes, etc. We have a few stickies going on in this section regarding recipes so give them a try so you don't get stuck in a rut.

Also we have a weekly check in to keep us accountable to one another. Its very informal but very helpful and motivating.

I've been lurking for some time and you guys have given me the motivation to get started (again)! Where is this check-in thread you are talking about? I think I could stick with this with my "Sunshine Friends" instead of on the WW website. I have about 3 1/2 wks until a band trip with my dd to Six Flags St. Louis. I need to lose 30 lbs, but really just want to feel good by then and hopefully a few more lbs down by our beach trip the end of June (for mine and ds birthday)!

There is a weekly check in in the Exercise section but you are more than welcome to post your progress here as well. I just did my 5 pound mark post so its no big deal as long as we can find it and keep you motivated!

I'm so thankful for WW. I'm such an eater. I LOVE food. WW has taught me how to balance the foods that I *should* eat with the foods that I *want* to eat. I still have weight to lose. But I know that even if I fall off the wagon for a little bit, the lessons of good eating that I have learned will carry over so that I don't just gain weight back quickly.

Honestly a couple of years ago I was taking diet pills. I could lose a good amount of weight quickly. But then I would gain like 10 pounds back in a month. Easily. It was horrible for me and for my body. (I'm not talking herbal pills or water weight pills--I'm talking phentermine).

Now, I don't beat myself up if I take a couple of weeks off of WW for vacations, the holiday, etc. I gained back no more than 3 pounds the last time that I went off, and I have gotten back on and taken off half of that in a week. In another week I will be right back where I was and ready to stay on the wagon a while longer. No big drastic shifts more me anymore.

It takes something different for everyone to lose weight and get healthy. The trick is finding what works for your body, your lifestyle, and your mindset.

Well as someone who has never done Weight Watchers it isn't because I don't think it is a good program. I just don't understand how to convert things to points. I have tried and I just can't seem to figure it out and how to feed a family of 5 and get the right point counts.

Since I did Jenny Craig ages ago (17 years ago) I agree with Tricia that these type programs do teach you life long dietary modifications. When we decide to go back on a Low-Fat type diet I always return to my old yellow Jenny stuff. We did try Atkins before which was totally different but had it's own merits.

Currently DH and I are doing our own mixed Jenny/Volumetrics diet. I have lost about 26+ lbs. since Jan. 5th.

I haven't officially joined weight watchers again but have become more aware of what I am eating looking back into it. I actually have blogged about it. I found Jamba Juice and their "its a meal" thing was really killing me and those reduced fat items at Starbucks even worse. If you get a chance read those blogs. They really woke me up. Even worse do we know what we are giving our kids. I will continue to point out places and if anyone has a place they want me to research let me know. I have In n Out Burger today.

I agree it's a lifetstyle change, "lifestyle" meaning that no matter how good I "think" i'm doing I still need to follow it.

I joined in Jan 01 thanks to Shelly and lost 75#'s with WW and exercise. After I had DD5 and put on 50#'s I "thought" I could do it again on my own. WRONG! I only lost 20 of the 50 started following WW again everything though, water, points, fruit, exercise etc, lost 15 more before I was pg with DD4. I still followed through with my OB's blessings and only gained 15#'s with DD4. After her I tried again but nursing was hard to lose weight. Eventually I realized when she was almost 2 that I couldnt' do it again without counting points. Wouldn't you know once I started counting points I shed all of that weight and was back down to the size I was before pg with DD5. (Of course my body didn't look the same 2 pg's back to back!) I held fine, until last year I slipped on 10#'s thought nothing about it bc it was the holidays I was still working out 4-5 days a week and eating somewhat healthy, another year another 10#'s and still nothing. Add the past holidays and 5 more #'s and somewhere in my head I kept thinking no big deal it'll come off, I drink 80+ ozs of water, exercize regularly, eat heathly USE healthy choices (most of the time). WRONG!

Moral of the story. Here I am 2 wks into counting every single piece of food that goes into my mouth and I'm already down 8#'s. WHy I can't get it through my head that ALL the pieces need to be there for this to happen is beyond me. All I do know is that everytime I DO follow all the pieces the weight comes off! :) End result............ This is a lifestyle change, I've known that since 2001 but yet I don't always follow it!

DH likes it's too he's been around long enough to know that when I eat healthy and count my points those extra five #'s of his come right off too! LOL

It's funny that you mention this because not only does my DH trim down when I am eating healthier, but DD7 does as well. It's not that she is "fat" by any stretch of the imagination. But when I am too busy to cook right and we start eating out too much and not eating enough fruits and vegetables, I can actually see her little tummy start to pudge up. I don't even think about it until I notice it go back down again. But MY eating habits have a huge impact on my whole family.

I must admit that this is the first time I'm also doing it for ALL the family.
DS thinks he's fat, he's not by any means, we're large boned people, he plays a lot of sports, BUT he does carry a little around the middle. I don't know WHERE he gets it from, bc having always been big, I'm concious about it and I don't say anything to DH or gosh I'm fat etc. Ok back to the point, I've also stopped buying the kids their "snacks" bc mom and dad would have some once in a while, and honestly I think DS could stand to lose a few extra #'s, never say that to him in a million years, but I think this BACK on the wagon for mom will benefit us all! LOL
