SR Meet at MOA??

Last week in chat we talked about a mini-SR meet at the Mall of America. I am SERIOUSLY thinking about it. I was thinking the first or second weekend of August (who cares about the weather...it's inside!)

Anybody up for it????

We talked about other places and decided that this is probably cheaper than Disney (even though we ALL LOVE Disney!).

That gives me a few months to talk DH into it! LOL! (Well, really like some LOL with the rolling of the eyes.) I have told DH that I have wanted to go there for about a year now. So, THIS is the PERFECT time! Cannot wait for details so I can get things moving - hopefully on my part! MOA AND SR friends! YIPPEE!!!!

I may seriously look into a price of a plane ticket for this. Never been to MOA and a SR meet sounds like a blast too!!! But just depends on prices and the weekend.

I wanted to do it in the East...but somehow MOA came up. (Not that I mind the shopping!) We could have headed Boston to meet up with Cindy!

I may make it a trip with the hubby...leave him shopping when I meet the SR buddies. That way he can't complain about it!

I mentioned MOA. If everyone wants to do something else, that is okay! It was just a suggestion - something that I had wanted to do for a long time. But I will not be upset AT ALL, if you all want to change to another place!

I'm all for the Boston one!!! And I know my Mom (Spring) would vote for that as well. It's an easy drive for us. Or anything else on the east coast...MOA is too far for me. Saving my pennies for my DCL trip in Aug-09. :cooldance:

I am not sure how much date is important to others but I mixed up my availability of babysitters (Grandma and Grandpa). I will have to make a trip towards the end of August and not the beginning.

Any problems?

I noticed there were a lot more hotel choices from SR than I thought...once I get a definite date for me I will start asking who can meet again and then look for places.

MOA is a longer trip for me but I would try and make it depending on price.

I could probably swing meeting in Boston, last time I priced airfare for something else it's probably cheaper for a flight into MA then to drive for me.

How late are you looking at having it. We start school August 17, so I will not be able to go if it is after that, but I am only 1 person, so not a big deal.

3 years in a row we go BEFORE Labor Day, then the next 3 years we go AFTER Labor day. They keep switching. It drives me crazy!

Maybe you could try having 2 separate meets???? Have a "sign up" just to see who would be interested where. Just a suggestion. Sounds like more people want, or can make a Boston one. But there are about 4 who would like the MOA one.

I wouldn't change the date. August is fine. There may still be a slight chance that I would be able to go. I could ask my in laws to keep the kids, which might work, and I can have inlaws keep the kids while me and my best friend goes....

Dates are hard, because people have so many different things going on.
Just pick a date, Janet, and keep it. Don't stress about it. It is great that you are trying to organize it! We appreciate all your work!

I agree with Angela, dont' stress about it, pick a date stay with it, can't make everyone happy.

Do a poll if need be, one with MOA and a certain date and maybe an East Coast or MA meet when Cindy will be there and just go with majority rules!

Oooh, not to sway any date or not in August, but just a FYI...the Great Minnesota Get Together (aka my favorite place in the world second to only Disney, aka the MN State Fair) will be going on the last two weekends in August...It's sooooo great!! So if anyone's interested I'd be happy to be your Fair Guide!! I get good Cop Parking! :0)

But a warning & I don't think it's an issue at all, but the RNC is happening here Labor Day weekend, so you'll probably want to stay away that weekend.

Ooh I hope it works out. Also, July is good for me too. Most schools here start after Labor Day...just a FYI...

Right now it looks as if there are 4 or 5 for MOA, and a few more for Boston. I say just have 2 meets. People can pick and choose.

I think MOA has me, Jen, Lisa, Pamela, Janet (maybe - are you thinking about Boston?) and I can't remember where askomsky said. That is not too bad of a meet.

Sounds like there are several for Boston, which will be a decent meet also.

I think just pick a date for each, and let people go to whichever they want. Really there would be not too much planning involved. Just the date and place of the meet. Then amongst themselves they can decide if they want to do more than just 1 meet during the visit. (People may want to wait to decide if they want to get together more than the 1 meeting AFTER the first meet - we may not like each other! LOL:rotfl: )
