We are heading to VA Beach - actually the Sandbridge area - at the end of June through July 4. This will be our 3rd time renting out a house down there. We will be a group of apx. 5 families.

We are thinking about taking a day and spending at the amusement park there. Is it Busch Gardens??? Does anyone know how far away from Sandbridge it actually is? The cost of the amusement park? Is it a nice place to go? We have been to Kings Island and Cedar Point and like both of those.

Is there a best day to go to the park? We have never done anything except go on the beach and shop at the boardwalk and visit the aquarium there (well... DH and the boys went parasailing). I get antsy sitting around all the time. So, we thought we would try something different. DH is not the biggest history guy, so history stuff is out of the question, however I would like to do that....

Any suggestions would be great!

Hello from Yorktown! Busch Gardens is AWESOME! After WDW (and nothing comes as close as far as I'm concerned!) :sunshine: I'd rather spend time at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. it's very clean and a whole lot of fun. I'm not sure where you are staying, but it's about 1 hour, 9 minutes (I took directions from Blue Pete's Seafood Restaurant in Sandbridge to Busch.) It's a straight shot on Interstate 64 from Virginia Beach through the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel to the Busch gardens exit in Williamsburg.

It's best to go earlier in the week if possible, and early in the day as the tunnel traffic gets heavy. BG is open late then, probably til 11 pm (opens 10 am). I checked the cost and it is $56.95 for adults for the day, and $49.95 for children ages 3-9. Under three years of age are free. It is soooo worth it! And plenty of places for younger children to enjoy!

If you are into roller coasters, you can't miss! There is plenty of great food (Trappers Smokehouse is one of my favs) and many, many rides and attractions. You can't miss! Corkscrew Hill in Ireland is very good (3-D), the Roman Rapids, Escape from Pompeii in Italy, Curse of Darkcastle and Das Festhaus in Germany...the Bird Aviary where you can feed the birds food (a fav of my grandson's) and Jack Hannah's Wild Reserve.:sunshine:

Please let me know if you need anything else!:hugs:

Thanks Tink! We were going to go last year, but did not. I figured if I buy the tix ahead of time, we can't back out! We are roller coaster people - well at least all but my youngest. I know SR has some ticket places, I will see if they carry those tickets.

You all enjoy! If possible, try to get there before the park opens to allow for interstate traffic coming in. There is a parking fee ($8 I think). If you have to wait outside the gate that's inside for a bit, it's better to. If SR has ticket connections (Ticketmaster?) you're way ahead. I know BG has eTickets. :p Have a great time and a greeat time at BG if you go!!!
