pbhall13 and family whirlwind weekend

Here is the cast:

Me (Pamela...39 and holding)
DD (sydney, 8)
DD (sadie, 5)
Dsis (Marcie, 30 something, hates telling her age)
DN (Nate, 19 months)

Dates: March 28 to April 1 (my sister and nephew left on the 31st)

This trip came up all of a sudden, so I didn't have as much time to plan, but no problem.....where there is a will there is a way......

We were only going for a long weekend and had to switch resorts a few times (this proved to be challenging for my sister)

First 2 night were at Boardwalk Villas, 3rd night Saratoga, and last night BeachClub Villas........we did do the dining plan (it just makes sense for us...although I do miss not having the tip included....hate carrying money around with me for that and didn't think to put it on the room card!)

But before the trip could even start I had to have an emergency root canal (many of you may have heard my whining about this last Friday morning)

Our take off day finally arrived.....were were packed and our parents decided to drive us to the airport and I was feeling a bit "happy" since I needed to take a 'happy' pill for some of the pain I had from the root canal........so how did the flight go you asked............

Well the kids look happy don't they!!! They all decided to sit with me, it was suppose to be just me and Sydney, but Nate and Sadie wanted to join in, thank goodness for the happy pill.......they flight was uneventful except for the fact that I had kids all over me and my sister got to sit alone (note to self, that will not happen again)

We arrived at the Boardwalk after 10 pm and we were all tired. The plan had been for Marcie to stay in the room with the little ones and Sydney and I would head over to The Magic Kingdom since they were open until 3 AM, but alas we were all tired and Sydney didn't really care that we stayed in the room......

We settled in to our lovely room, BUT it was the longest walk ever........we overlooked the whole Boardwalk area and could see Spaceship Earth and the Eiffel Tower.......wish we had made it to our room in time for fireworks, but we missed them!

We all settled in for a good nights sleep so that we would be ready for Epcot in the morning!

The kids got a good nights sleep and had a quick bite before we headed out to Epcot..........nice to be able to enter from the International Gateway....the day was beautiful (80's) and we sauntered over to take in the Flower Festival...it all looked and smelled wonderful......wish I could use smellervision on this TR, but think roses everywhere! The cutest area was the Peter Pan Garden....the girls and Nate loved it....while they played I ran over to get fastpasses for Soarin (this was my lot for the trip....I was the runner).....some pictures from the Peter Pan Area:

After the kids played a bit we headed over to Figment and Nate had a ball on that ride......he is officially addicted to rides now!! We decided to save Soarin for at night so we headed over towards TEst Track for another Fastpass and searched for coffee for Mary (this proved to be difficult to find a good ice coffee!) On on journey we visited the Butterfly exhibit/tent and came upon a beautiful minnie topiary!

France here we come!!!!!!!!!!! Marcie found her ice coffee and she became very happy.........we made it to France and went straigt to the bakery.....the girls split a ham & cheese baguette and marcie, Nate and I split a turkey and cheese (of course we all got chocolate mousse for dessert) I also had run over to Morrocco to get a counterservice for Marcie and I to try (the chicken platter...very good, much better than the sitdown we went to in May)....we found a table and just chilled out and ate........

After this leisurely morning we headed back to the Boardwalk to go swimming.....would 3 kids and 2 well fed adults really want to put on bathing suits and take a dip.......

The kids were all for it.....as for us adults we had to squeeze into our suits after all the food and take the long walk from our room to the pool (thank goodness for the walk!)

It was so nice out. We set up near the wading pool for Nate (and my girls enjoyed it too) and then we went over to conquer the the Clown slide (I had been on it way back in 1998, but it was the girls first time so they were very excited)

We swam most of the afternoon and then went up to the room to shower for dinner...........

The girls really wanted to ride the one of the surreys (bikes), but I didn't think we would have enough time.......we had dinner ressies for 5:10 in Japan so we were cutting it close......Sadie was so sad....so I gave them a challenge to see how quickly we could get ready and if we were able to work together and get done quickly then maybe we could do the surrey bike.....did they cooperate????........

Sadie was thrilled........and the girls were laughing at Marcie and I trying to peddle up the hills..........we only went around the boardwalk once so that we didn't miss our dinner reservation.........it was fun and we will do it again on our next trip.....and keep it for the full time!

So off to Japan.........I was looking forward to this, since I hadn't been there since 2001 and they redid Teppan Edo.

We only waited a few minutes until we were seated.........Sadie and Nate were in a bit of a snit, so we braced ourselves for a not so pleasant experience.......Nate kept throwing things at the grill (it is his newest phase) so I was not sure what to expect..........but once the chef came out to cook the two of them settle down and enjoyed the experience....

The dinner was excellent....I had chicken/shirmp as did my sister and the girls had just chicken.....just enough food to not make you extremely full.

After dinner we wanted to use up our fastpasses for Soarin and Test Track, but before heading over we walk thru the countries and Marcie and I got our Margarita!! MMMMM was that good...hit the spot!!! Now on to the rides!!

We were a little pressed for time so I wasn't sure if we would be able to do both (poor planning on my part)....marcie took the girls on Test Track while I entertained Nate......we were able to get a riders switch because of the baby, so the girls made out on this trip and always rode everything 2 times in a row!!! I figured I would bypass Test track so that they could all go on Soarin, but Sadie was so upset that she didn't ride Soarin with me that we decided to see go back on Test Track and then see how much time we had before Soarin closed.......I really like Test Track....it is fun and to see Sadie's face on this ride is priceless!

So we get off Testtrack and it is 8:50.....hmmmm 10 minutes to get from Test Track to Soarin with 3 kids.....we can put all of them in the double stroller and make a run for it (nothing funnier than 2 30 somethins' running in the dark with 3 kids in tow).........we bolt over there and as we make it down the stairs one of the the cast members tells us we just made it, but once we got to the fastpass area that cast member there said it was too late (said 8:59 as we stood there and turned 9:00 while she was talking)....I was so out of breath and the girls were sad...another castmember noticed and told the girl to let us on.....yeah!!!!! I opted not to ride and let Marcie take the girls and I again entertained Nate (Marcie had not done Soarin yet, so I thought this was only fair!)....as I was waiting near the exit a cast member came over to me and asked if I was waiting for people on the ride...I told her 'yes' and she informed me that I would be able to ride even though the other castmember was not giving out rider switch passes....boy were the girls going to be happy when they got off Soarin and were going to go on again with me!!

They exited and the girls and I were escorted on thru the back (only 6 of us on the ride)

What a great way to end the night........we took our time leaving Epcot and headed for the International Gateway. Sadie wanted to take the boat back to Boardwalk, so I took her and Marcie, Nate and Sydney wanted to walk....once we hit the hotel Marcie brought Nate up to the room and the girls and I walked around the pool area and then the lobby....the girls loved the big couch in the lobby so here is their picture, not the best quality picture but Sydney wanted to me to put it in:

A very good night...........now tomorrow is our big day....The Magic Kingdom!!

I was heck bent on getting there when they open, but my sister is so pokey....not sure how this will work out!!!

So who wants to place bets? Does my sister get her pokey little butt in gear or am I (and the kids) going to miss the opening ceremony????? Stay tuned!

Sunday morning arrives!!!! I woke up at 6 ish and decided to be the best mother/sister/aunt and head down to the Boardwalk Bakery and bring back some breakfast ALL WITHOUT waking any of them up!!!! Yeah I know very nice of me (but I had my motives....I wanted to make it for the opening of MK) When I got back from that VERY long walk I came into the room and gently got everyone up (okay pulling the curtains back suddenly is not so gentle, but hey I had an opening to make)

The had a lot of options that I brought back for breakfast and my sister had her beloved coffee to start the moring. Remember how pokey I told you was!!!! I had all 3 kids dressed and myself ready and my sister was still getting her butt in gear! It is now after 8 am and I am pacing back and forth...I gather up the kids and our gear and told my sister to meet us at the elevator.....luckily she made it just as the elevator doors were opening! Off to the bus stop...and I can see a bus leaving and all I can say to her is "you had better hope that is not for the MK.....you'll be in big trouble" The kids got a kick out of this! Sure enough it HAD been the MK bus.....it is now close to 8:40 and I know that I am going to miss the opening! Luckily an MK bus came again after about 5 minutes or so waiting, but my dreams of seeing the opening were dashed! I pulled myself together and scowled at my sister for a bit and then I was ready for a fun day....

We arrived at the MK at 9:01......we got our stroller and headed straight for Fantasyland.....we rode It's a Small World, Peter Pan, The Carousel, Snow Whites Scarey Adventure......then headed over to The teacups (my personal favorite)....all of these without waiting in one line!!!! Now my sister gets why I like to get to the MK at the opening....you can get on all the rides in Fantasyland without having to deal with all of the crazy lines!!

Nate just loved it....even on It's a Small World he was dancing to the music (he is our dancer.....like I said he is sure to be breaking hearts when he is older!)

We then headed over to Mickeys Toon Town for the great Goofy Barnstormer...Sadie was thrilled...her all time favorite....Marcie brought Nate over to the play area while the girls and I rode Goofy and then we switched so she could go on with the girls......from there we headed over to Frontierland by way of the MK train. I love taking that train,....it gives your feet a rest, but also allows you to just sit back and relax! We made our stop and immediately I sent marcie to get a fastpass for Big Thunder Mountain and the girls and I waited in line for Splash Mountain (wait was under 15 minutes). I had out rain ponchos ready!!! good thing because our cart got so wet!!!! (we also remembered to get a riders switch of this so my sister could go on with the girls) When my sister took the girls on Nate had fallen asleep so I just sat and people watched....love doing this.

Now we headed over to BTMR and Marcie took the girls and I took the sleeping angel and went to get a fastpass for Mickey Philharmonic for later that day. Just look at Nate he is so cute....Sadie decided to climb in with him and pretend to sleep:

We headed over to Columbia house for some lunch (oh yeah we did all of this and it wasn't even 11:30 yet!!!) lunch there never disappoints....although Nate was in rare form with his throwing of food!! UGHHH

After lunch we decided to take a walk thru fantasyland and head over to tomorrowland for some fastpasses for Buzz lightyear.

this was the first time we ran into cindys stepmom and step sisters. The girls were very excited.

So off we went to ride buzz light year and get a fast pass for space mountain. Then we saw the Monsters Inc show. Sydney was thrilled because my sister texted one of her jokes and her joke was chosen first while we were in the show. Again she was very excited although she had a very serious look on her face while they panned the camera on her!

Well we decided to head over to Saratoga to check in there. On our way out the parade started so we watched that and headed out. And we said goodbye to goofy:

Saratoga here we come........we went to the quiet pool for a bit (I hit the hot tub) and then we started to get ready for our dinner at Kona. We didn't have to be there until 7:30 so we had sometime to relax in our room getting ready.

Well dinner at Kona did not disappoint! We all love it there........and the drinks were good too!!!

We were all very full but we had our extra magic hours at MK and so we rolled ourselves out and headed over to MK! Monorail here we come!

Once we got to MK and got our bracelets we headed directly over to Aladdin (no one was on that!) and then to Pirates (again no line!). Next it was a quick trip over to Big Thunder Mountain for a quick ride and then off to tomorrow land.........we hit the tea cups one more time and then attempted to go on Space Mountain (since we had the fast passes) but it was down (this was the story of the trip while we were there!) Oh well no Space Mountain...luckily Sydney was a trooper and didn't mind much. We rode buzz one last time and then headed towards the front of the park, since the two little ones were asleep.



The nighttime parade was going on, so Marcie ran into the Main Street Bakery to grab some goodies for the morning and Sydney, myself and the two sleeping ones watched the parade. Too bad Sadie and Nate missed it....they would have loved it!

We definately had a full day at MK.........we were all tired and decided to head out.......

Awesome! I'm loving it! We did manage to see them when we were there. We happened to be crossing from Frontier land over to tomorrow land and saw the line starting to form , we were like 5th in line. DD5 was the only one who wanted her picture taken with them.
