View Full Version : Do any of you ladies bike?
I had my first bike riding lesson yesterday (well first in 15 years-LOL). I have a stupid/gross "am I normal?" question, but don't want to blaze it until I know there are bikers here.

Well I tend to ride the exercise bike at the gym alot. Does that count? You can pm me the question and I'll see if I can answer it.

Is it related to chaffing? If so then its totally normal. I have to be careful with which shorts I wear because if I wear some that are too short I can rub myself raw down there to almost the point of bleeding. I now only do the bike if I have my capris on and if its shorts I do the recumbant bike not the up and down one which for some reason is better for females to do exercise-wise.
My, erm, groin is sore. Is this normal? Is it caused by sitting funny?

I had the soreness, too, when I started. Part of it goes away over time. But most real bikers suggest getting biking shorts that have a little padding in there.

Thanks! I figured it was normal, just wanted to check.

Yup! How long are you biking in 1 session? I found my magic time number is 35-40 minutes and any longer I will be in some major pain for days.

90minute lesson, so there you go. Thanks!

90 minutes your first time out? You are a wonder woman. and yeah, that certainly explains the soreness! I have a gel seat which works wonderfully.

To be fair, I wasn't pedaling, but just trying to keep my balance made me sore.
