OK Here we go...A note - I don't go into as much detail as I should sometimes so if you want to know something please ask!

Unfortunately I did not get as many food pictures as you all wanted. A trip with a 18 month old is HARD at times but I will get to get!

We left NY at 9pm on Friday night. The plan was to have DH sleep all day and drive all night. That was ok...for him. I couldn't sleep in the car because I wanted to keep DH company. I was nervous about leaving him awake while we all slept. He drives like a granny so I don't know why I was nervous!

DS and DD6 slept until about 5am. From that point on we stopped for diaper changes, food and gas every 4-5 hours or so (thank godness for night diapers - you mommies know!). Whoever made the DVD player in the car is a GENIUS!!! We brought one with us but the van we rented had a built in one. Do you know how many times we watched HSM, H<, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Cars?? Too many to count! NOTE TO SELF: BRING MORE DVDs next time!

http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q11/nprincessy/Disney408005.jpg

We pulled into Saratoga Springs at 6:40pm and not a minute to soon! I was getting itchy!!

I checked in in less time than it took for DH to take the kids to the restroom! Love that!! Got our request of the Grandstand section and upper floor.

Here is the view from our room:
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q11/nprincessy/Disney408065.jpg
The "quiet" pool at the Grandstand

We went to grab some dinner at The Artist's Palette. Flatbreads and a salad for DH and I while the kids had chicken and mac n cheese. We love the food there! We brought it back to the room to eat. Used the DDE to get 20% off.

Off to the room to get settled. We had our crib from ABBF and Owner's Locker delivered without a problem. Don't know what I would do without these two companies!

I get the kids and DH settled and off to the lobby to meet up with Traci, Jen and Amy (Jen's friend). This picture is in Jen's post. I had SOOO much fun with them! I haven't laughed like that in a long time! Traci - how are Kylie's cha-cha shoes??

The next morning we are off to Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We wanted Jack (DS) to meet the characters without having to wait on lines. Mickey is his favorite but he ran past us basically.

http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q11/nprincessy/Disney408010.jpg
PLEASE NOTE: The kids' hair is long - but the Main Street Barber Shop is on the schedule!

Ohh can't wait! I have to say that was probably (MGM, HSM Pep rally) my 2nd favorite thing of our whole trip!

ligrumpygirl

DUH - Never gave the cast of characters - know you know me but DH is Charlie, DD is Emily and DS is Jack.

I like to do MK as our first park but since we were still tired from the road and just wanted to hit a few things at MGM (ok ok ok it's HS) we went after CM. We have Annual Passes so that is a luxury we love! We got there in time to walk into Playhouse Disney. It is new and we all loved it! So nice to see the "new" characters! OH TOODLES!

Right after that, we caught the HSM Pep Rally. Charlie and Emily (DD) wathced it while Jack and I sat in the shade by Brown Derby. It was great...Emily couldn't stop dancing and singing!

We stopped for some strawberries at the fruit stand and met up with our BFs who were down there at the same time. We travel well together...we are there at the same time and meet when we want/can. No expectations...I love it!

We left and went back to SSR where we grabbed the car and went food shopping. Walmart was our stop this year since we forgot Emily's bathing suit AGAIN! We always forget somebody's - Emily's turn AGAIN! After we got back, Jack took a nap and Emily and Charlie went to the quiet pool for a while. It was a bit chilly but they enjoyed it.

We had planned on cooking in the room - we had a one bedroom with a kitchen. But I was not in the mood so we tried to get an ADR for Turf Club - nothing available through Dining. So we went down there to see about a wait time - I figured I already knew the drinks were good if we had to wait!

Our luck - no wait! We had a nice dinner - I had pasta, Charlie had steak, the kids had chicken and pasta/beef. Charlie and I each had a drink. Again we used the DDE for 20% off.

It was back to the room for early to bed in hopes of getting up early for MK tomorrow...but does that happen???

After I put the kids to bed, I take a shower and wash my hair in hopes that it helps the morning move faster. Unfortunately, not everybody has that in their minds!

The next morning I wanted to be at MK by 9:30ish...hhhmmm NO! Emily decided that eating a waffle should take an hour. Next time she is taking is with her! By the time we got the kids ready and out the door it was almost 9:30. When we get to MK I had to look for our brick. After freaking that I couldn't find it, I found Jen's then Michael's and then mine!

http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q11/nprincessy/brick-1.jpg

Then it was straight to the barber shop for haircuts. For those of you who want to do this, it's great but you have to be there EARLY! We waited over an hour. A note to anybody with 5 people in the family who are getting cuts? USE ONE BARBER! One family in front of us kept switching the kids back and forth to get the whole family cut. I know that is their right but think of the 10 people behind them! I did meet a nice lady on line who was from Massachusetts (Jen - she didn't know what people from Mass are called either!).

After the Barber Shop, I was cranky and hungry so off to Casey's for a hot dog! YUMMY!!

We just walked around the park because the lines were out of control. This is why I usually leave by noon! Apparently, my family has forgotten this. They will need to be re-Disney-ized!

Back to the room for naps! That is the one good thing about having a toddler - forced naps!

We decide to hit Earl of Sanwich for dinner (McD's for the kids). I LOVE EARL!! We need to get one of these in NY! Full Montague for me and the All American for Charlie.

We walked around DTD but not the World of Disney - we would save that for another day. We picked up some paper for Emily's birthday invits and some candy at Goofy's. It was nice wallking around because it wasn't too busy because it was still early. One of these days I will get to the other side of DTD!

Back to the room for bed...the lack of sleep was finally ok with me by now. If there is one thing I can't give up is my sleep!!

Sounds like a great trip so far, and love the pics. Thanks for the entertainment, keep it coming!
PS. Never knew the Barber Shop was so popular, I had only heard from someone that it was a neat place to have your child's 1st hair cut. What else do they do?

We had Jack's first hair cut last year there. This year he had a regular haircut and Emily had her bangs cut. Grown men had their hair cut. They also put gel and pixie dust in the "big" boys hair.

Hmmm.... I requested the Springs, but now I'm wondering if I want to at least try for the Grandstand. Hmmmmm..... lol Sounds like it isn't too far. The only area we weren't crazy about so far was the one across the big bridge- can't think of name right now (maybe Carousel).

Your TR is making me even more excited. SSR really feels like "home" to us and we can't wait!:)

Thanks Pamela! I was thinking of it the night before I met up w/Janet because while walking through the parking lot of AKL there was a car all decked out w/Red Sox stuff & dont' know why, but my head went to what you'd call someone from Mass. I thought right away Bostonian, but that wouldn't make sense for the rest of the state. THEN, Janet just happened to mention it when we met that she was JUST thinking about it too...soo weird.

So thank you!! Can you maybe answer another question then...why would Mass take on the entire name of New England as their own? I could just be dumb, but I thought that's what you'd call a few of the states along the coast....like MN is part of the Midwest....you know?? Or does anyone from any of the states in the "New England" part of the country call themselves a New Englander...hmmm...something to think about for the day!!:p

I wonder who was driving that car!! I love my teams and all but I spent too much money on a vehicle to deck it all out in stickers etc! :p

As for why New England? Well technically a few states can call themselves that:

English explorer Captain John Smith, while cruising the coast of North America in 1614, christened the land New England. The name came to be used when referring to the four early British colonies here: Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire. In the 1700s the states of Maine and Vermont were included. Since that time, the six states have preserved their character as a unique region.

You so should come to the Boston Meet this summer.....we could do the Freedom trail........you learn so much more than what is in the history books. Last week we took the kids into Boston and did part of the Freedom Trail (visited Kings Chapel ..great history around that, some of the cemetaries)
the kids loved it....it makes History come alive (o gosh that sounds like the teacher in me!)

Hope this helps. Pamela

Tuesday -

We slept in a bit and then got ready to swim all day. We walked over to the Springs pool because Emily loves the slides there.
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q11/nprincessy/Disney408071.jpg
We packed up lunch and brought it with us. That is what I love about the kitchen...make our own nuggets and fruit for lunch and take it with us...no extra out of pocket $$! Back to room for showers/naps around 2. Dinner at the Concourse next!

Had a 5:30 ADR for the Concourse Steakhouse. We love this place and are so sad that it is closing. We shared a tomato and mozzarrella appetizer and had steaks. PERFECT as usual. We decided that dessert would be ice cream on Main St.

We stopped at the hat shop and made a hat for Emily. Not cheap but very fun to do!

http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q11/nprincessy/Disney408076.jpg

PS Do you see Emily's necklace? Normally we use ID on the kids' shoes with our phone numbers for emergencies. Forgot that we got Em slip on shoes for this trip! So off to DTD to make a necklace with her name and my number on it. Can't tell right?

We were supposed to meet up with friends on Main Street for the Spectomagic Parade but they are not "Disney people" and didn't understand that they couldn't leave BWV at 8:15 and make Spectromagic at 9 (does ANYBODY listen to me??). So we ate our ice cream and enjoyed our light sticks by ourselves.

Jack's face was priceless as he saw all the characters go by!

We met up with the boys who were sharing a turkey leg and went over to the phot center for Em's photo session. The pictures came out nice. Her eyes were even open (she closes them a lot - she has come a long way!)

We had 4:50 ADR for 1900 Park Faire to meet Cinderella, the Prince, and the Wicked Stepmother and sisters. We were a little early so we took the monorail over to enjoy the view.

For those of you who have not tried 1900 PF DO IT! I am not a fan of buffets but they have great food and we love the interaction. The Stepmother and Sisters are HILAROUS! Druzilla is the best! Said to Emily - nice clothes - like I haven't seen those before. Asked how we were going to get the Pixie SNOT out of our hair!

Thursday -

We got up early to get to the World of Disney. Luckily, we knew what we wanted so we were in and out in about an hour (hey that is good with a 6yr old and a toddler!).

We ate lunch in the room again and then packed for the afternoon/evening at EPCOT. This is the only park that I go to in the afternoon...we love the countries and it is so much better to eat and drink through them in the PM!

I love the Flower Show! I got engaged there 3 years ago so I may be partial!

I wanted to go on Spaceship Earth but the line was LONG! I couldn't even find the sign that told us the wait.

I bought a Mickey head wind "thing" for the backyard. I don't know the real name but I will find out.

We started in Canada and walked around. We knew we wanted to go to France (to try a frozen drink I saw on the Food Channel - YUMMY!), Japan (pick a pearl), Italy (buy nephew a gift) and America (I thought the artists were there but they weren't). We did a few KidCot stations for Emily. She was ok with not finishing the countries because we are going back in July.

We decided once we had a pretzel in Germany (yummy - never had one before) to take the boat from Germany back to Mexico. Glad we did because I found the artist I was looking for - Larry Dotson. Bought beautiful pictures of Cindy's Castle and Illuminations. (Charlie also bought me a print of Thomas Kinkade's Castle picture in MK the other day!)

We made our way over to the Living Seas and tried out the new ride and Turtle Talk with Crush. 5 minute wait for each one...it was great! Straight from there it was over to the Coral Reef for dinner. This was new for us and we LOVED it! I had King Crab Legs and Charlie had steak AGAIN! I had a chocolitini (sp?) for dessert. Emily made her own sundae and Charlie had a Jack Daniels mousse. YUMMY on all accounts.

After dinner, we walked to the International Walkway and took a boat to the Boardwalk to visit our BFs. It is a nice resort but very different from SSR. We then drove back to SSR with our friend which was very nice of him...otherwise we were just going to take a cab.

Here are some more EPCOT pics:

OK here I am - going to try and finish the report - hope I remember everything!

So we went back to pack...ho hum. Not my favorite part but it must be done!

When we are in one bedroom villa, we put Jack in his ABBF's crib in our room and Emily stays in the LR on the pullout. At night we let Em fall asleep in our bed and then carry her out when we are ready for bed. This way we get the living room, kitchen, the laundry and balcony without waking her up. I guess it will be time for a two bedroom when Emily is too big to pick up and carry!

So in the living room we started packing away. AMAZING how much we took with us because we are driving! I reorganized the Owner's Locker while Charlie did the major packing. He is better at it because I get too frustrated that things won't fit!

Two loads of laundry and lots of packing later we are finished. Wish I had taken a picture of that (I already have a list of MUST TAKE PHOTOS for July) but oh well. I also arranged with Bell Services to pick up the crib and OL at 10am. A good thing about driving...we can leave later. Usually when we fly we are out of the room by 830ish.

Our plan was to be out of the room by 11 (we were!), run to DTD for Earl of Sandwich for the ride and to The Art of Disney for last minute purchases. With Christmas money from my parents, I bought two park exclusive Precious Moments Disney pieces. I will insert the pictures later when I take them.

The Kincade from earlier in the week:

By 12:15 we were out of DTD, gased up and ready to head back to NY...:(.

We had planned on stopping at a hotel around 8 or 9ish but Charlie insisted he could keep going. By 1am he was too tired and we tried to find a hotel but the FIVE at the exit we got off were no good - one only had smoking rooms, the other only a $200 suite (for 6 hours? no thanks) and the other 3 were booked. So we got a second wind with the frustration and kept going. About 3am we stopped in a gas station (Delaware??) and rested for an hour. At 6:30 I took over the driving in New Jersey. I HATE driving with trucks and this was bad. Going 70MPH and felt like I was standing still because the trucks were FLYING! So happy when the road split and I got to drive in the cars only! By 8:45 we were on the Belt Parkway I could SMELL HOME! Past the airport we usually fly into (HI JFK!) and we were home by 9:30 EXHAUSTED!

The problem now is the kids were wide awake from sleeping all night and we were exhausted! We took turns sleeping two hours until we could function that day!

Spoke to BFs who left the day after we did...they got stuck in bad traffic and didn't get home until 11pm on Sunday...we got LUCKY!

I think that's it for now. I will recap the Little of this and that in the next post. I am off to take pictures of the Disney PM!
