My parents are going to Key West for the first time. (They're accountants and usually go to Vegas every year after tax season) I was surprised to hear that they picked a new spot for this year's trip. They're asking for ideas of what to do, where to eat, etc. So I said I would check it out for them. I'm asking you guys first because you're so reliable and trustworthy. I prefer to get the honest info from you, and not the endless google searches. Generally they enjoy nice restaurants (but not REALLY upscale and fancy) and places to go for a few drinks where they can enjoy the atmosphere, usually they look for places with live music (blues, country, rock) Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA!
Mom went there in December. She just walked in the door after a week in Italy, but I'll ask her tomorrow.

Great, thanks Heather! (Definitely give her a break and some relaxation after such a trip) Hope she had a good time, I would love to go to Italy some day.

They'll just have to go to the Blonde Giraffe for a piece of key lime pie on a stick dipped in chocolate. It was BTS!!!! A nice little "somethin' somethin" during an afternoon shopping stroll.

Yum, sounds great. It just occurred to me that maybe I don't want to share these ideas with them, seen as how I won't be going with! I wouldn't want them to eat too much good food and have too much fun without me right?

I LOVE Key West. We've been there several times...doing the "Duvall crawl".. thats the main street loaded with bars and you have to hit everyone. We always make it a point to eat at Hogs Breath and Two Friends Patio Restaurant. Fogartys is another good place to eat. Even in the best of restaurants in Key West, nothing is fancy. Remember, there are chickens walking around everywhere. Cafe De Artiste is very fancy food, excellent, looks ritzy but while we were there, the chef came out and believe me, there was nothing fancy about him, but I think they have won a ton of awards. They are not on Duvall street. Oh ya, make sure they avoid going upstairs to The Garden. Its a clothes optional place, and really smells bad.
If your mom is a Coach person, they have a great outlet there.

One of my favorite things to do is get a pair of Kino Sandels. They make them right there and they only cost around $11 and seem to last forever!
