I have a question. Do you guys leave in any negative comments that you get? I don't mean, "Oh I hate that book or I hate that product" because I will leave those since people deserve to know if something isn't good.

I mean like the one I got this morning saying it was the worst book review he had ever read LOL. I left it for now and I responded to it in what I hope was an intelligent manner. Would you guys go read it and let me know what you do?

Leave it and my response?
Leave it but remove my response and ignore it?
Remove both the comment and my response?

I had someone leave a response that they have owned horses for years and I should have just put Scatman down because he was in pain. They said I probably wouldn't post it, but I did. I'm hoping he comes back to see the video that I will be making of Scatman running around the pasture and begging for food.

I guess everyone is entitled to an opinion, evey crappy ones. I'd just address it like you did. I love your book reviews.

I leave them in unless it is someone totally trashing something that I am trying to sell. Every now and again I will leave those in. But sometimes they are just really suspicious, like someone is out there intentionally posting bad things about certain products.

In the case of a book, I think it might even make for BETTER conversation to have people on both sides. If people like a book and read your review that they like it, they won't be inclined to comment. If they read someone else saying that they didn't like it, they may want to argue back against them.

I do delete out links sometimes when people leave a good comment but only to get their link on my site. I just delete out the link.

First, I think you did a good job on the review, made me want to read it!

I would leave his comment and your reply. It was a well crafted and intelligent response to him.

Now if he comes back and it turns into some ugly flame war maybe then you could take it down, but if it is just that one comment, I'd leave it. It shows how well you do write :)

he is obviously just looking to fight because his response was "you didn't read the book, just admit it" LOL so I didn't approve that one. He just wants to fight. The funniest thing is that I have made it quite clear that the books that are included in my book club are books that I am reading while books that I don't include are books that I read aout and hear about that I think my readers will like. So he it trying to make a moot point since I never said that I had read the book LOL. When I am reading the book I tell them I have read or am reading it. The explanation of the site on every place I list it clearly states reviews and recommendations LOL. Oh well, someone just trying to pee in my cereal this morning and I have enough more important things to stress about.

I have sort of a related issue. I posted a comment on a blog and my response was totally edited. One entire paragraph was removed and several sentences added that I didn't even write. If the comment was not "welcome," I would have rather it been removed altogether than to be edited in such a way - It doesn't sit well with me at all that words are being put in my mouth that I didn't say.

Was it one of OUR blogs??

Yeah, it was on CW but in the last few minutes the sentences that weren't mine have been removed from the post. So, I'm assuming it was just an editing mistake that the blogger made while editing the comment to remove a portion of it.

Chatty women is yours, right?

Oh, goodness. It is. That is definitely not right at all. None of our bloggers should be changing anyone's comments. You either approve the comment or you disapprove it. No one should ever change someone's comments except to take out spammy links.

Well, I'm hoping that since I didn't have any spammy links, it was just a mistake made when a portion of my comment was deleted. It doesn't bother me at all that a paragraph has disappeared in the editing process but I'm glad words are gone that didn't come from me. :)

Jamie - I don't know which blog/post/comment you are referring to as I don't read too much over there due to time constraints but I have seen on non-CW blogs that some people will respond to comments in the original comment. Most of the time they will bold their wording or put it in a different color. Just something to know if you go to non-CW blogs and wonder what is going on if you see something like what I have described.

On a related note..... Is it okay to add to the end of someone's comment? Someone asked me a question in my comments last week, and the only way I could figure out how to answer then was to put a note at the end of it From Miranda: and the answer. Is this okay?

I usually go in to my blog from the regular link and not from the WP and I comment on my own blog with the answer.

That's what I do as well.

Miranda - this is what I was saying with the above post. Some people I have seen do it this way within the comment.

Jamie's original comment wording - yada yada
Response from Miranda - yada yada

I do it this way.

You can do it either way you feel most comfortable with. Some people also click to be notified for updates/additional comments so doing it the second way will notify them but the first way wouldn't.

I tried doing that, but it kept me logged in, even when I went back to just my blog site. Since I was logged in it wouldn't let me comment on my own blog? It must be the settings on my computer. I will try logging out or doing it from my desktop.
