So I decided to try a little something new. I thought I'd start a thread and chat about what I did for my blog, or something I'm trying. I set up my blogs own e-mail address, and then surfed over to get an e-mail icon (http://services.nexodyne.com/email/index.php) generator for my blog. Isn't it pretty?

Tomorrow is my 30 day mark, so I'm becoming a paid blog, and applying for PPP.

I love it!!! That is a very cool idea.
Hope you guys can start making good cash with PPP!

Today I:
Applied for PPP and was denied b/c my blog wasn't indexed by search engines. I submitted my blog to google per their instructions and resubmitted it for PP approval
Took advantage of my paid blog status by submitting my blog to pfblogs.org-it can take 72 hours to hear back if they accept me. I could speed it up by making a donation to their site, but I'm holding off for now
Did some clickthru and added a hot spot.
Signed up for Networthiq-I tried to add the badge to my blog and failed, I'll try later

I installed an Alexa rank plug in for Firefox, and I published Fisher-Price My First Pay Per Post Post.
I'm also making a list of things to blog about.

I'll get you added to the front page of Chatty Women next time I update the template. That should help you, too. :)

The list is definitely helpful. What you might consider doing is going ahead and making the title and a small blurb into a post and just save it rather than publish it. It helps keep you organized without needing a notepad. I really need to get back to doing that. I need to find an extra hour in the day!

Yesterday I:
surfed on blogexplosion (blog not accepted yet-I found some good pf blogs though)
clickthru
did a little blogsvine
Signed up for social spark (blog not approved yet)

I'm also excited b/c I found a blog on Stumble that I commented on (and added to my bloglines incase they say anything good), then they commented on my blog, then I commented on theirs, and then people from there came to my blog (you'd think that was how blogging worked, or something :rotfl:). I'm also seeing traffic from pfblogs.org. If they continue to send me traffic I may reinvest my PPP earnings and become their friends for more traffic, as that's directed traffic.

Lastly-on Friday I finally got a white opp on PPP. I paused to consider how I could work it from a personal finance angle. By the time i'd decided, it was grey. :(

Heather from now on for PPP go in and reserve the opportunity as soon as you see it. You have to keep the reservation open in a seperate window in order to do the opp anyway because for some reason it doesn't save your reservation. If you reserve it and close it out then it goes back into the queue. So what I do is go in and reserve the one that I want. Then i open a seperate window with my wordpress in it and I write the post. As long as you have the reservation window open it is reserved for you. If you decide not to do the opp just close the window or hit the back button and it will return to the queue. This way you reserve the opp and don't miss out on it and it gives you an opportunity to decide if you want it.

So after you reserve an opportunity you can decline it?

yes for some reason they aren't set up for you to take the opportunity and then go back later and write the blog. You have to actually go in and do the post while you have the reservation open. Here is what I do.

1.) Click on the opportunity and read the details to see if it is something I am even mildly interested in.
2.) click on reserve this opportunity. It will ask you a question and then you will see the reservation screen with all of the info about the opp. If you close this window the opp goes back in the queue. If you want the opp and have closed the window you may not be able to get it. You can't close the window if you want the opp because you may lose it.
3.) open wordpress and do the opp and then when it has been published open a seperate tab for your blog so that you can copy the url for that post. Not the blog url but the post url. Paste the url into the opportunity window and click submit. Once it says that it is accepted you are done.

I am not sure why they don't have a system set up to reserve an opportunity and then come back to finish it. I guess because people would reserve all three of their opps and then other people might not get a chance. This way you can only reserve one at a time and you have to complete that one, do the interim post before you can take another opp. I guess it keeps it fair. It doesn't save your opp though so if you close the window you lose the opp and have to go back and try to get it. Hope that makes sense.

And in today's episode of my "be a horrible warning" mantra-blogs need to be 90 days old for social spark.

So-i have a real rank! Yay! And I've been getting some PPP offers. I signed up for easy hits 4 u, which seems to be getting me hits (but the other sites I surf are pretty blah/sleazy). I'm also getting hits through click-thru. I'm hoping that once I get approved for Blogexplosion I'll get some high caliber traffic-and I'm definately reinvesting some PPP earnings into becoming a friend of pfblogs.org.
I'm also hoping to submit a post to next week's carnival of personal finance-which should up the good hit numbers.

Right now, one thing I'm struggling with is trying to keep up good posts, while also meeting my PPP requirements.

Heather,
When I find myself in a slump, I scan google news and try to find an article that inspires a post. There are plenty of personal finance articles out there right now!

Also, you can always do some reviews on related books, dvds, programs, ect to fill in some blah days. I know Janet has the corner on book reviews, but I keep mine related specifically to my blog theme, so it works out. Just remember, if you sign up to be an amazon affiliate, ppp counts those links in your post to be a commercial post, so you can't count it as an "in-betweener" post.

Nothing carnival worthy came out of my fingers this week, IMO. It really pays to be persistent with PPP-I had a grey opp that went white, grey and then white-Wow!
I'm also somewhat surprised at the posts of mine that are popular-my Palm centro post is getting a lot of hits, while I thought it was pretty common.

Is it worth the extra money? For those of you who are doing it to earn a little extra pocket cash? I'm curious because I don't do too much of the PPP.

I'd say so. I had to do some traffic click sites to get my numbers up, but once I did I had about an $5 offer a day for a bit. In total, that's been about $80 in the past month-I'd say it's worth it.

I've been doing far better with PayU2Blog than PPP. In fact, I am so tired of seeing nothing but the same offers over and over, I've been checking every day, but I like the way PU2B works so much more.

Well, my blog's been going along pretty swimmingly. I'm approachng the time where I can apply for social spark, potentially become a member of PFblogs (support the site in exchange for more feauturing on their page), and possibly do Payu2blog. I was having an OMG content crisis last week, so I may not join payu2blog.
Between now and then, I'm plannning on joining the list of 20 something bloggers, as well as blog catalog.
i'm becomng a little frusterated that a lot of the financial blogs I like seem to be taking the summer off, limiting the ammount of commenting opportunities.

I would say it is well worth it for me Tricia. I have done 102 posts for PPP so far and I have made around 900.00. This money along with the money I have from SR is going to pay for my Disney trip next year. It is a lot of work if you want to do it right. I have a non-paid to paid ratio of 3 to 1 and I work hard to keep it that way so that my blog doesn't become all about paid posts. I also tend to make the paid posts more than what they ask for. I very seldom ever write a 50 word post lol I guess I am wordy. It sometimes means that I am on at 11:00pm central when they make drops of offers and I am refreshing to get one but it is very rarely that I don't get one each day during the week. The weekends I usually don't get anything but I try to keep posting unpaid posts and it helps to keep the ration up. I love blogging and doing paid posts. I wish I were more technically adapt with the program we use but it works for me so far. I really appreciate that you gave me this opportunity, it has made a huge difference for me. I have close to 1400 in actual money earned that can go towards my trip. I am making anywhere from 10-30 a day between SR and PPP. I am just getting ready to start trying PU2B only because I like the idea that their paid ads are only keyword links and you usually don't even have to mention the advertiser name. I did 2 for them last week and they are easy and the words fit seamlessly in regular blogging and they don't have alot of ads, buttons and disclosures to distract from the blog. Again, THANKS!

Yet another episode of Hedy the horrible warning-apparently you can't link to non-advertiser links in your PPP posts-even your own blog.

Yeah I can understand if it was for another site or something that competes with the advertiser (rejecting it) but not your own blog post. Did that post have a nonpaid link in it? Maybe that is why.

No news from social spark or payu2blog. I'm getting some traffic from being a friend of pfblogs, but not really enough to verify the cost so far.

I think I'm doing something right, as a Kayak.com exec and soemone from myxer found recent posts of mine.
